The AI (Magic) is Inside – The Touchless Aspect

BriteHome is revolutionizing how automation can be brought into the home. By utilizing AI models within each device, decisions can be made even with the loss of cloud connectivity. Any AI model needs input data to use for the decision process and this is where BriteHome uses a unique approach to gather data from every corner of your home.
To provide a continuous stream of data, BriteHome chose the light switch to contain the sensors and AI models. We call it BriteLight. Light switches are ubiquitous, well positioned, and are always powered. All rooms, open spaces, stairways, corridors, closets, and pantries have light switches.
Every BriteLight has multiple sensors, that include:
  • Activity / occupancy / presence, ambient light, energy metering and temperature
  • Indoor air quality, humidity, barometric pressure and CO2 Equivalent

Once BriteLight switches are installed throughout a home, they start conveying a story, a story of how it is being occupied and lived in. This ‘awareness’ is the foundation of AI driven home automation that is unique to BriteHome
Leveraging a powerful processor, every BriteLight switch has built-in edge intelligence that makes real-time decisions. One example is whether to turn on the light and at what level, when someone has entered the room. Multiple factors like environmental conditions, user preferences, time and outdoor weather are considered algorithmically to generate the decision.
With Wi-Fi connectivity, the switch connects to BriteCloud (cloud services) that offers data aggregation and higher-level AI for home services such as DIY contextual security and Aging in Place monitoring. The BriteHome app also interfaces with BriteCloud that provides the communication path to individual switches.
Since intelligence is distributed, each BriteLight switch can continue to operate even if the BriteCloud connection is lost. Similarly, intelligence in the cloud can identify potential problems like loss of connectivity to multiple switches. It can also build patterns (learn) how occupancy correlates between switches and areas within the home (for security and senior living as well as advanced automation).
BriteLight switches with indoor air quality sensing help to quantify the health of a home and alert if the home requires better ventilation or air-purification.
This automation is a paradigm shift that needs to be experienced to appreciate. It goes far beyond simple voice/app control.
